The piston set is one of the most critical consumables in an agarbatti machine. Its condition directly impacts production efficiency and overall manufacturing cost. Many operators struggle with premature piston wear, which increases downtime and replacement expenses.

The good news is: by following a few proven best practices, you can extend the lifespan of your piston set and achieve up to 2500 kgs of production (or more) from a single piston.

1. Use of Good Quality Pistons

The first and most important factor is to use good quality pistons. For Hung Tuan machines, it is strongly recommended to use original Hung Tuan pistons.

  • When using black agarbatti mix, original pistons typically produce 2000 to 2500 kgs of agarbatti. However, the actual lifespan also depends on the quality of charcoal powder used. (This point will be explained further in section 2.)
  • When using white wood powders such as T1 powder, piston life can extend even further - ofter reaching 3000 kgs or more. Once again, the durability depends on the quality of white wood powder, which we will discuss in the next section.

2. Quality of Raw Material

The quality of raw materials plays a crucial role not only in producing good-quality agarbatti but also in ensuring the smooth operation of Hung Tuan agarbatti machines and the longevity of critical machine parts such as the piston, rocket, die, sweeping vane, and bowl.

  • If charcoal powder is of poor quality or contaminated with abrasive materials, it can cause rapid wear and tear of the piston.
  • For agarbatti production, high-quality wood charcoal should be used. The ideal charcoal powder is fine, uniform, and free from impurities such as slag powder, which can otherwise damage machine components.

3. Piston Seal Maintenance

In many cases, machine operators wait to change the piston seal only after the piston liner or piston rod is already worn out. However, for better performance and longer piston life, it is recommended to replace the piston seal after every 1000–1200 kgs of raw black agarbatti production, even if the piston appears to be working fine.

  • By changing the seal at this interval, the lifespan of the piston can be extended by an additional 500–600 kgs.
  • It is equally important to use high-quality oil seals. Hung Tuan specifically recommends the original Ding Zing brand, known for its durability and reliable performance. The keyword here is 'Original DING ZING'. Stay away from fake DING ZING seals.

4. Optimizing Piston Rod Usage

During piston seal replacement, it is advisable to also reverse the piston rod position. This simple step allows both ends of the rod to be utilized effectively, helping you get maximum performance and extended life from the piston set.
